Invitation to Holy Darkness

40 days of Lent begins soon. As a way of preparing, Carol and Doreen invite you to an evening of quiet, communal reflection on darkness. Together, we will seek to offer up our own inner darkness to the divine light of God's Love.

After a brief talk, they will lead participants through easy movement and breath prayer inspired by scripture, then settle into the body for Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer. Lectio Divina, Latin for "Divine Reading," is a traditional monastic practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God’s word. Centering Prayer is a method of meditation.

Time together ends with a self-reflective question to carry each participant into Lent.

At the end of the class, Carol and Doreen hope you will feel calmer, clearer and comfortable with the holy darkness.

Please bring a chair or mat for the movement part and anything you need for supported sitting meditation.
