Yoga Vespers Webinar Series: Traditional Christian Prayer in Body, Mind and Spirit

Please join Dana Moore and Katrina Woodworth for Yoga Vespers: Traditional Christian Prayer in Body, Mind and Spirit, a 3 part webinar series. Participants will learn how to integrate yoga mat practices such as posture, breath-control and concentration into Christian prayer at home. Additional topics include creating a home altar for sacred beauty and as focal point for the eyes , sitting in sacred silence and practicing hatha yoga before or after morning and evening prayer. This webinar is appropriate and accessible to Christians of all denominations and physical abilities. Participants will learn traditional and contemporary prayer options that are adaptable to any schedule. Each will be invited to find and practice a version of the liturgy of hour in between webinars.

Webinar Details

Week 1 April 15 7:00p.m. - 8:15p.m. EST

This first week will be an introduction to the practices and the cornerstone of the webinar series. Katrina and Dana will introduce the various practices and their forms, instruct participants in setting up a practice space and home altar, discuss the concept of sacred silence and practicing hatha yoga before or after morning and evening prayer. Participants will be invited to find and practice a version of the liturgy of hour in between webinars. The presenters will also offer a brief question and answer period.

Week 2 April 22 7:00p.m. - 8:15p.m. EST

Together, we will practice the traditional form of liturgy of the hours as a group and offer time for questions and group discussion. Regardless of the practice you’ve selected for your home, praying together as a community is life-giving. Please join us!

Week 3 April 29 7:00p.m. - 8:15p.m. EST

Dana Moore is a Benedictine Oblate of Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey. He directs the Heart of Christian Yoga Retreat at the Fr. Déchanet Hermitage located in the Southern French Alps (www.christianyoga.info). He is a founding member of Christians Practicing Yoga and the Christian Yoga Association. ​Dana has been studying the life and teachings of Jean-Marie Déchanet, the Father of Christian Yoga, for over twenty-five years.

Katrina Woodworth is the Vice President of Christians Practicing Yoga with fifteen years experience of integrating Christian contemplative practices with the practice of yoga. She is an EmbodiYoga Teacher, E-RYT 500, working towards her C-IAYT (yoga therapist training) with Phoenix Rising Yoga. She holds a Spiritual Transformation Certificate through the Transforming Center and offers private yoga therapy work and life mentoring. Katrina has 25 years of ministry experience and four young adult children with her spouse, BJ Woodworth, founder the Open Door PCUSA church in Pittsburgh.
